¡Happy Astro New Year!
Greetings, earthlings! Feliz año nuevo to all the astro-enthusiasts who honor today [the 20th of March] as the beginning of another zodiacal year. Today is the first official day of the tropical astrological calendar (which is typically the system used in ‘western’ astrology)~ when the Sun ingresses or enters the sign of Aries, transiting the 0° Aries point– also marking our Spring Equinox– one of the 2 days of our year when we have equal amounts of light and dark hours.
Most folks know that today is also the first day of Spring! Aries season brings with it a vitality and a fervent directness that many of us may have lacked or yearned for in the last several weeks or months, throughout wintertime. Coming out of the Sun in Pisces, where energy can often feel nebulous, oceanic, soothing, dreamy, or dissolved, Aries is a fierce wind of rocket fire… the rush of spring fever– ready to go, do, run, birth, grow, create, and risk. Aries is the first of the 12 signs in the zodiac– the first of the fire signs, the first of the cardinal (initiator) signs, and has a natural affinity with the first house (self, personhood) of the zodiacal wheel. This energy is like that of the first crocus shooting up through the still-cold surface of the earth; the nest of baby bunnies just birthed, hiding in the brush while their mother fetches food; spring cleansing of our human bodies with bitter greens like dandelion; and, of course, deep spring cleaning of our homes after months of dust accumulation and dormancy.
If you begin to notice a number of ideas or projects that have either been mulling inside you for some time, or that seem to arise (inspired) out of nowhere, you are riding the Aries Sun wave quite well. To be in flow with this cosmic calendar, now is a fine time to take action on some of these projects… and not to let fear paralyze you from moving ahead. Fear is actually an Aries ally, or something like its energetic sassy bestie cheerleader friend, urging one towards the hot coals of the fire walk. Without challenge or a certain amount of risk involved, it is not quite Aries enough…
