About

El Powers arrived at the profession of astrological counseling through a background in social work, sexuality education, and movement arts. They’ve been studying the relationship between celestial bodies and personalities in bodies in earnest since 2006. During this time, Powers has been blessed with the opportunity of mentorship and certification from world renowned evolutionary astrologer Steven Forrest. Other teachers in their lifelong continuing education thus far include Samuel Reynolds, Acyuta-bhava Das, Emily Trinkaus, and countless colleagues, friends, and clients who’ve entrusted Powers to engage with their charts and be in conversation about minds, lives, and hearts.

Additional astrological influences of note include: Gretchen Lawlor (Seattle/Duwamish land), Margaret Koolman (UK), and Powers’ personal super fav astrologer Jessica Lanyadoo (Oakland/Canada), along with many fellow queer astrologers working and loving across the planet.

In addition to serving as a counseling evolutionary astrologer, Powers directs a movement arts company, HoopingPowers HoopDance, teaching hoola hoop movement to people of all ages, performing at events large and small, and hand-crafting dance hoops to further the joyful revolution. Powers aims to help folks that lean towards psychological awareness to become more embodied and physically tuned in, and to assist those that are more kinesthetically inclined to become further mentally and emotionally reflective & conscious.

For those conversant in astrolojargon, Powers has both the Sun and Moon in the 6th house, with the Sun in Gemini, the Moon in Cancer, Uranus on the Midheaven in Scorpio, and Capricorn Rising.
