Workshop On Death & Living/Dying Well- 3.25.18
On Sunday, March 25th, 2018, from 1-3:30pm in Ithaca, New York, we will be gathering in a beautiful, light-soaked space to explore several critical questions around death, dying, and living well. While we may not overtly address astrology specifically during the workshop itself, my interest and work in the field of Evolutionary Astrology (meaning: honoring reincarnation or the likelihood of multiple lifetimes) is at the core of what drives this current reflection on death.
The topics of death and astrology (or occultism & magic, in general) share the same house in the zodiacal wheel. They’re both associated with the 8th house arena of life. Many things considered ‘taboo’ in common socials circles fall into the 8th house zone besides death & astrology, such as other people’s money/resources, psychological nakedness, taxes & debts, divorce & alimony, power struggles, transformation, rebirth & regeneration. Our death-phobic culture typically does not support any talk or tackling of these subjects in ‘polite company’ or in public spaces.
During the workshop, we’ll begin to ask ourselves and start to answer relevant questions related to death & dying, using various tools such as writing, movement, ritual, meditation, hoola hoops, and cozy blankets. It will primarily be an inner exploration in the presence of others, with a chance to share together, for those interested in witnessing or being witnessed. The questions may bring up a lot of emotion for some folks… Therefore it is important that you have people in your life with whom you can talk to earnestly & honestly about any difficult material that may surface for you, whether that’s with a therapist, a solid group of friends, or a close family member.
